Dreaming in haiku
Counting the syllables
Praying to wake up
Because in the dark
I dreamt all night in haiku.
I knew it was weird
but I couldn’t stop.
All night long, I was counting
through very dark dreams-
A dreamland concert
threatened to ruin my marriage.
Who’s she, you’re kissing?
A chase through caverns
had me quaking in my boots
hiding in shadows -
An observation
gone terribly wrong, sent me
looking for new work-
What pain, torment, and
misery! Can I wake up?
Reality calls...
Warm spring sun awakes -
There’s my man waiting for me
coffee and kisses
Shrug off the dreaming
struggle to stop the counting
of my dream haiku
Counting the syllables
