I’m joining the party! Lee Ann Eck invited me when she shared the invite on her post. You can read all about it here. So, using the mentor text below, I’m sharing my ID -
“Depending On When You Met Me” by Devon Gundry, Soul Pancake
Depending on when you met me, I might have been: a checker’s champion, the kid who squirted Super Glue in his eye, a competitive Ping-Pong player, Tweedle Dum, a high school valedictorian, a fake blond, 1/12 of an all-male a capella group, a graduate of the Vanderbilt School of Engineering, a nomad, a street musician, or a pigeon assassin.
Depending on when you met me, I might have been: a little girl in pigtails and buck teeth following her brothers around, an explorer in high tops and ToughSkins building forts in the woods, the leader of backyard plays and elaborate make believes, a startled junior high schooler, not sure she wanted to many people to notice her, a more secure high schooler singing on stage and feeling her worth, a teenaged tennis player riding her bike to join matches around town, a college kid in love with freedom and words, a big-eyed dreamer with wanderlust studying in London and taking full advantage of a Eurail Pass, a radio announcer, a post grad trying to find my calling and stumbling happily upon teaching, a new teacher in love with my students and the ways I spent my days, a newly married transplant trying to find my people in a new place, a teacher spending joyful days with eight year olds...and then eleven year olds, a young stay-at-home mom with four kids eager to show them the world and indulge their love of the arts and sports, a storytime lady getting my acting on through the pages of shared read alouds, a knitter finally completing my first sweater after ten years (started for kid #1, finished for kid #4), a teacher (again) sharing my days with twelve and thirteen year olds, a gardener in awe of the bounty emerging from raised beds, an herbalist blending teas for family, a learner devouring books and conversations and podcasts, a hiker exploring the outdoors, a mother-in-law in an expanding family, a wife celebrating thirty years of married life, a daughter supporting an aging mother through a pandemic, a dreamer, a writer, a sourdough bread baker...a woman in love with life.
