SOLSC: Day 19  Culled from the kitchen

In search of inspiration for a slice, I scoured the kitchen and found a poem. The only rules I imposed on myself were that the poem had to be constructed solely of words found on something (not inside) - so labels, teasers on magazine covers, newspaper headlines, and the like. Here goes:

They look like bananas, but they’re not
Tastes like coffee, not like mushrooms
Mary’s gone crackers

Evidence?
250,000 years of brilliant evolution
So delicious

Holiday jam
Seeds of nutrition
Supports bone health

Save the date
Hate has no home here
Fighting racism, educating for justice

Choosing courage in the face of the unknown
Home is where your story begins
A real keeper

As I started reading your poem, I thought, "Aren't words fun?" And as your poem progressed, I thought, "Aren't words powerful?" And the truth is, they are both. Your poem is a great example of that.

It was fun to see what was there and how the words could be arranged for effect. Thanks for stopping by!

Home is definitely where your story (or poem) begins. What an interesting way to find a poem.

Great way to find a slice! You have me wondering what words might be gathering in my own kitchen!
